Wayne Casey, the owner of "The Red Shoe Restaurant" will be banking on a combination of food, music and an intimate setting to help make the Red Shoe Restaurant the area’s newest hot spot.

Located at 2891 East Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur, the Red Shoe, which opened Nov. 11, offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night dining as well as live entertainment ranging from spoken word and comedy to blues, hip-hop jazz fusion and avant jazz.

Food is served hot off the menu. A breakfast combination of bacon, sausage or salmon, grits or potatoes, eggs and a biscuit, coffee and tea is $4. A Sunday jazz brunch is $13. Lunch buffet is $7.50, and the dinner buffet is $13.50. Fried chicken, fried fish, barbecued ribs, turnip greens, macaroni and cheese, red beans and rice are among the items offered on certain days of the week.

Red hues dominate the small restaurant from the red chairs to the striking red and black mural against the walls of the raised stage. Images of Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughn, Lou Donaldson, Billie Holliday, Dizzy Gillespie are among the music legends whose images are captured on the mural.

Wayne Casey, who came up with the restaurant’s name after seeing a woman on an escalator wearing red stilettos, describes the Red Shoe as “a place where you can get good food and good entertainment, always friendly and cozy, meet folk and have good positive relationships and have no strangers when you leave.”
